Experience

I was working as a Curriculum Specialist with Cerebral Pte. Ltd. I conceptualised and wrote the arts curriculum for the company. I also trained trainers internally and externally.

Teaching is a huge part of my life. I have been teaching for more than 20 years and approach it a little differently. I apply theatre techniques to make the lesson enjoyable and help my students, if not love, then like the language.

I believe many students don't do well because they lack confidence. I take slow steps by building a steady foundation first before laying on more difficult tasks. I use word games, magazines, storybooks, music videos, movies etcetera, as facilitators. For example, word games for vocabulary-building and movies and synopsis to develop stronger content for compositions and summaries. Students learn faster and remember more when they're put in a fun yet challenging environment.

I'm not a conventional tutor who will come into your life and go through the motions. I'm passionate, driven and a great listener, and will design my lessons to suit my students' strengths and weaknesses, with emphasis on their strengths.

Be prepared to laugh and learn!
